What We Do

Communications services

The Public Affairs Bureau (PAB) provides communications support to government ministries and helps inform Albertans about government programs and policies. The Bureau also coordinates communications for cross-government initiatives and during public emergencies.

Questions and comments

PAB also provides a way for the public to ask questions about Alberta government programs and services, or to comment on issues of the day.

Question and comment forms appear on every ministry website. Albertans may leave their e-mail address for a response, or leave their comments anonymously. Most questions are responded to within three business days.

Albertans can also phone to give their thoughts and ask questions — call toll-free, 310-4455. Staff will take comments, provide information and forward more detailed questions to the appropriate department or individual for further response.

Ask your question or provide feedback to the government.

Internet communications

The Public Affairs Bureau manages the websites for the:

The Bureau also chairs the Cross-Government Internet Committee, which is responsible for establishing government-wide website standards.

Alberta Communications Network (ACN)

PAB distributes government news releases, information bulletins, travellers’ advisories, media notices and public service announcements through the ACN service. These documents are distributed by fax and e-mail, and are posted online.

Albertans interested in keeping track of provincial government news can either join an e-mail distribution list or subscribe to specific topics via RSS (Really Simple Syndication) technology.

Advertising and graphic design

PAB helps government departments purchase communications support services including graphic design and advertising.

PAB manages the Alberta government’s corporate identity which identifies Government of Alberta facilities, programs and services. The program includes the Alberta signature and the emblems of Alberta, including the province’s coat of arms and the flag.

Details about how to use the corporate identity can be found on the corporate identity website http://www.corporateidentity.gov.ab.ca/
